For the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology we are looking for a

Academic employee (m/f/d)

We seek to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and particularly encourage qualified female scientists to apply for this position.

Severely disabled applicants with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration.

Full-time positions are generally divisible.

At the Institute of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, we investigate the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation and their role in neurological disorders. To this end, we employ various high-throughput methods to identify pathological abnormalities. In our teaching activities, we are currently establishing the new master’s program in Pharmaceutical & Molecular Biotechnology (PMB), which covers current developments in biomedical research and drug development. Both in PMB teaching and in research, the systematic bioinformatic analysis of large biological datasets and the use of AI tools play an important role.

With this advertized position, we aim to strengthen our expertise in these areas of bioinformatics.

Your profile:

  • Successful completion of a master’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, or a related field
  • Solid knowledge of bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics)
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and teaching
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills (C1 or higher)
  • Ability to work in a team, initiative, and high motivation
  • Experimental experience in a biomedical laboratory is a plus, but not a requirement

Your responsibilities:

  • Bioinformatics analysis of high-throughput data as part of research projects
  • Assistance in developing teaching courses in bioinformatics with a focus on processing and analysis of large biological datasets
  • Teaching courses at the master’s and bachelor’s levels
  • Supervising students on bioinformatics projects as part of research and teaching initiatives

We offer:

  • An interdisciplinary research environment and a supportive team atmosphere
  • The opportunity to contribute your own ideas and concepts—both in terms of content and organization—to the development of a new degree program
  • Insights into international, patient-centered research
