Scientific coordinator of a Research Training Group

The position is limited until 30 June 2030. The starting date is 1 October 2026. The position is part-time (50 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 50 %).

We seek a motivated and highly organized coordinator for the Integrated Research Training Group of the CRC/Transregio 440 “smART – specific mRNA targeting”. The smART IRTG, “smART-i”, provides doctoral researchers and associated early-career scientists within the consortium with a structured and forward-looking educational program designed to advance RNA research. The program unifies training activities across partner sites and creates a coherent framework that integrates scientific excellence, interdisciplinary exchange, mentoring, and professional development.

Tasks:

  • Coordination and further development of the smART-i curriculum
  • Organization of IRTG training activities, seminars, workshops, retreats, and other network events
  • Documentation and administration of IRTG memberships, participation records, and training progress
  • Coordination, documentation, and follow-up of TAC meetings
  • Support of individualized mentoring structures for doctoral researchers and associated early-career scientists
  • Communication between principal investigators, doctoral researchers, associated members, the central managing coordinator, and participating institutions
  • Support in preparing progress reports, renewal documents, evaluation materials, and presentations related to the IRTG
  • Contribution to the visibility and outreach of smART-i within the CRC/TRR 440 and beyond

This is a fixed-term project position. The contract is not based on Section 2(1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG)..

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent and a PhD or equivalent, in natural sciences
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
  • Experience in academic project coordination, graduate training programs, research administration, or collaborative research environments is an advantage
  • Interest in interdisciplinary RNA research and structured doctoral training
  • Excellent written and spoken English proficiency is required; knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Very good skills in documentation, reporting, scheduling, and handling administrative processes
  • Ability to work independently, reliably, and proactively in a collaborative academic environment
  • Familiarity with DFG-funded collaborative research structures, CRC/TRR programs, or integrated research training groups is an advantage
