Research Assistant (Postdoc)

The third-party position is offered for a period of 2 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E13).

Tasks:

  • Scientific services in research
  • Conduct research related to Nichols algebras and deformation theory
  • Engage in regular scientific interactions with the research group of Leandro Vendramin at VUB Brussels
  • Report regularly on research progress within the local research group and during meetings with the collaborators in Brussels
  • Present research results at international conferences and workshops
  • Participate in the organization of a workshop in this research area, jointly held between Brussels and Marburg

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation complies with Section 2(1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG).

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent and a PhD in Mathematics
  • Sufficient English skills for fluent professional discussions
  • Deep knowledge in one of the areas Hopf algebras, quantum groups, modular representation theory of finite groups, permutation group theory

Disposition to own scientific qualification is expected.
