The aim of the project is to develop an efficient methodology for the rapid generation of photo-switchable small-molecule libraries using multicomponent reactions for the targeted modulation of pre-mRNA splicing. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to assist with the synthesis of small molecules for other projects within the consortium.

Tasks:

  • Scientific services in research and teaching
  • Development of research with a high-degree of independence
  • Design and conduct multistep organic synthesis of photosensitive molecules, ideally photoswitches & multicomponent reactions
  • Photochemical characterisation, e.g., quantum yields and life time
  • Conjugation via solid-phase synthesis
  • Analytic identification & biological characterisation: cell-based experiments and binding experiments
  • Scientific communication (oral and written) in an international environment
  • Supervision of students, in particular teaching service at Bachelor’s and Master’s level

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period).
