THESE ARE YOUR TASKS:

We are looking forward for a postdoc who has the ability to map valence electrons in solids spatially and temporally. This could open up new horizons in materials science, chemistry, electronics, photonocs and biology. The main objective is to use state-of-the-art laser sources developed in Prof. Goulielmakis group to study electrons in complex materials, from semiconductors to organic crystals. The experimentals techniques used include the generation of high harmonics in bulk solids, photoelectron spectroscopy, and attosecond streaking, and are implemented with synthesized light fields. The candidate will be part of the team of experienced researchers in the field of ultrafast pulse physics, attosecond physics, and solid-state technology. Tasks include experimental research and the development of theoretical concepts, as well as the opportunity to pursue a postdoctoral qualification.

THIS MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT:

  • completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in Physics
  • completed PhD in physics with at least cum laude
  • strong interest in basic research
  • opportunity to find a habilitation topic
  • ability to work independently as well as in a team and in new subjects areas
  • experience in lasers( typically acquired by a doctor thesis)
  • good command of programming tools such as MATLAB and LabVIEW
  • good understanding of optics and nonlinear optics
  • very good knowledge of the German or English language is mandatory
  • previous experience in ultrafast science (ultrafast techniques) or simulations of scattering phenomena of electromagnetic waves with matter will be a strong advantage.

WE AS AN EMPLOYER:

Equal opportunities are important to us. We welcome applications from suitable severely disabled people or people from traditionally underrepresented groups. We aim to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore encourage suitably qualified women to apply. We welcome applications from people of other nationalities or with a migration background.
