In the Department Mathematics and Science, Institute of Physics – research group Structural Molecular Dynamics (Prof. Dr. Jochen Mikosch), the following job vacancy is to be filled as soon as possible:

Scientific Staff (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed term-position, full-time (currently 40 working hours).

The position is initially a one-year fixed-term position within the framework of the DFG project “Sonderforschungsbereich ELCH,” in accordance with § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 2 WissZeitVG. There is an opportunity to pursue a habilitation.

Tasks:

  • Construction, characterization, maintenance, and development of spectrometers for studies of structural molecular dynamics
  • Manipulation of femtosecond laser pulses, non-linear optics, intense and tailored laser fields and attosecond technologies
  • Preparation of samples for scientific studies
  • Planning and execution of scientific studies on (time-resolved) structural molecular and photochemical dynamics and the dynamics of molecules in intense and tailored laser fields
  • Planning and execution of scientific studies within collaborations, for instance at Advanced Lights Sources, such as FELs, active participation at beam times
  • Data evaluation, interpretation, modelling, and the preparation of scientific publications
  • Contribution to the teaching obligations of the research group
  • Contribution to the public outreach of the working group and the communication of our science to the public

Requirements:

  • Completed scientific university studies and a completed doctoral degree in Physics or Chemistry. The required degrees must be obtained no later than the beginning of the work contract.
  • thorough and self-sustained way of working
  • high degree of organizational skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Proven expertise in experimental studies of circular dichroism in ion yield with the twin-focus method, in particular for the molecule 3-MCP - demonstrated via peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals
