1 Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed term, part-time (currently 20 hours per week)

Part-time position with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited in duration until November 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension—subject to personnel decisions—(qualification position pursuant to § 72 HessHG in conjunction with § 2(1), sentence 1, WissZeitVG). There is an opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.

Tasks:

  • Assistance in research and teaching (independent teaching of 2 SWS) in the field of art and economies (in department 05 as well as at the Kunsthochschule Kassel)
  • Developing a dissertation in the field of art and economies, particularly in relation to contemporary art practices, theoretical discourses, and collective forms of production
  • Participation in the development and conceptual advancement of the documenta Institut, especially at the intersection of art theory, sociology, curatorial practice and public discourse
  • Participation in the organization and implementation of academic events and conferences
  • Participation in university administration

Requirements:

  • MA degree in social sciences, art studies, media studies or a comparable subject with good to very good academic performance
  • The required degree must be presented by the hiring date at the latest
  • Very good command of English and German
  • In addition to the usual application documents (cover letter, CV, certificates), a brief outline of the doctoral project (max. 2 pages), a writing sample, and two referees are required
  • Initial experience in academic publishing and/or presenting research is an advantage
  • Experience in organizing academic events or research projects is desirable
  • Experience with research projects or grant applications is an advantage
