Research Associate for the Project “Quantum information architectures with ultracold atoms” § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Start date: 01.11.2026, fixed until 31.10.2029 (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]).

Weekly hours: 75 % of standard work hours per week

Your responsibilities

In the period from 01.11.2026 until 31.12.2028 duties primarily include research.

In the period from 01.01.2029 until 31.10.2029 duties include academic services in the project named above.

Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

Your research focus will be on manipulating and imaging single atoms in highly entangled states. It will involve experimental research with ultracold atoms, performing and analysing measurements, upgrading the measurement apparatus and developing new techniques for the manipulation and imaging.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

Excellent knowledge of general physics and especially quantum physics and quantum computing. Experience with project-oriented work in quantum technologies, preferably in the control of ultracold atoms as well as labwork with optics and electronics. Excellent skills in analytical thinking, and team-work.
