The two positions are part of the project “Low-level clouds” of the cluster of excellence “Climate, Climatic Change and Society II”, which aims to better constrain the response and climate impact of stratocumulus clouds. One position will focus on small-scale cloud-turbulence interaction and its adjustment to global warming. This work considers direct numerical simulations. The second position will focus on the climate impact of these small-scale adjustments. This work considers storm-resolving climate models.
A university degree in a relevant field.
For the first position, a background in fluid mechanics, turbulence, numerical methods and programming will be considered very favorably. For the second position, a background in cloud physics, storm resolving- or LES circulation models, radiation and climate feedbacks and programming would be optimal.
