Project Assistant ERC Synergy Grant "Taming the European Leviathan"

The advertised position is intended for the University of Hamburg staff only.

Institution: Faculty of Humanities, Department of History

Salary level: EGR. 9A TV-L

Start date: as soon as possible, fixed until 31.05.2029, with the possibility of extension

Scope of work: part-time

Weekly hours: 50 % of standard work hours per week

Responsibilities

You will support the professorship in all administrative and coordinating tasks, including the The working language is English.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • office management
  • management of personnel matters
  • organisation of the professorship’s schedule, travel, and activities
  • management and organization of travel and research trips, and follow processing of claims with the University administration
  • procurement matters
  • cost controlling of material resources with the help of SharePoint
  • processing of invoices and cash register orders
  • preparation and follow-up of meetings and protocol management
  • organization and follow-up of international conferences, workshops and scientific events
  • participation in the review of funding opportunities in the humanities at national and international level
  • participation in cooperation with the departmental, faculty and presidential administration of the University of Hamburg (UHH)
  • monitoring of project deadlines and follow-ups

The duties listed above are to be carried out in English, German, and an additional foreign language.

Requirements

  • certified/recognized foreign-language secretary for correspondence duties in English and one other language

or

  • equivalent skills, experience, and qualifications

Verification of equivalent skills, experience, and qualifications for the last prerequisites will be conducted on hiring.

Required skills and personal qualities

  • very good oral and written German and English language skills
  • good knowledge of a second foreign language
  • good knowledge of structures, processes and responsibilities in Universities
  • confident and in-depth user knowledge of the MS Office package (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • knowledge in the management of budget and third-party funds desirable
  • knowledge of SharePoint and FIONA desirable (or other collaboration platforms and CMS)
  • very strong communication skills in the German and English languages
  • strong interpersonal skills and an intercultural perspective
  • ability to work independently, proactively, and responsibly
  • good coordination and organizational skills
  • teamwork
