The project focuses on developing innovative, hands-on and digital learning materials on biofilms for schools and the general public. Within a national research priority program, a biofilm experiment box is being created that allows students to explore biofilms through practical experiments directly in the classroom. In parallel, interactive online content is developed for the Kniffelix platform, introducing biofilms in nature, research and sustainable biotechnology, and showcasing real scientific career paths. The project aims to make modern microbiology accessible, engaging and inspiring for learners of all ages, while strengthening the connection between current research and science education.

YOUR TASKS

Development and refinement of a hands-on biofilm experiment box for use in schools and as a loan kit
Design and creation of accessible educational content on biofilms for pupils, teachers and interested non-experts
Development of online learning materials addressing biofilms in nature, research, sustainability and biotechnology
Translation of current biofilm research topics into engaging, age-appropriate edutainment formats
Coordination with academic partners and contribution to the Kniffelix platform content

YOUR PROFILE

Requirements

Completed scientific university studies, in particular in the subject Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry

Desired knowledge and personal skills

Strong background in chemistry, microbiology or biotechnology, ideally with research experience
Very good German and English language skills (B2/C1) as well as social media communication experience
Proven experience in science communication, education, training, knowledge transfer; enthusiasm for motivating people to engage with science
Ability to translate complex scientific topics into clear, engaging and hands-on learning concepts also for children
High level of independence, organizational skills and project coordination experience
