The Institute of Process Systems Engineering pursues research on process intensification by developing innovative model-based design and optimization approaches and integration with experimental research. The interdisciplinary research activities are oftentimes conducted in collaboration with academic and industrial partners, focusing on innovative process concepts for energy-efficient, (bio-)reactive and hybrid processes. Our research activities pursue the goal to develop resource-, energy- and cost efficient processes for a sustainable production in the chemical and biochemical industry. The position will focus on the development of model-based optimization methods for conceptual and experimental design for the integration of reaction and distillation, with potential experimental validation.

- Process modeling and optimization
- Project management and teaching activities as well as supervision of student theses
- Support of ongoing research projects and project acquisition
- Writing of scientific publications and presentations
- Possible experimental validation
YOUR PROFILE
Requirements
- Completed scientific university studies (Masters degree), in particular in the subject Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Computational Engineering Science, or similar
Desired knowledge and personal skills
- Knowledge in multiphase thermodynamics, fluid separations, and reaction engineering
- Knowledge in process modeling and optimization, with expertise in model-based design or applied optimization being favorable
- Interest in scientific work, self-motivation and performance orientation
- Ability to communicate and work in a team as well as to act independently and on one's own responsibility
