Our institute has a long standing track record developing AI methods for medicine. We are particularly interested in machine learning, medical robotics and navigation, image guidedance, and treatment planning. In a project with clinical partners we are developing an AI based system for guiding robotic surgery. The focus will be on deep learning methods for image processing and tumor localization using robotic instruments. We will develop a prototypical software for 3D visualization of the surgical scene.
YOUR TASKS
- Developing and evaluating deep learning methods for image processing, particularly to identify tissue and instrument motion
- Implementing interfaces to a robot and a 3D visualization environment, navigating the surgeons to the target
- Collaborating with different partners, including a clinic, supporting the pre-clinical evaluation of the system
- Systematic experimental evaluations, including on realistic data
- Presentation of your results at top-tier international conferences and publication in high-ranking journals
YOUR PROFILE
Requirements
- Completed scientific university studies, in particular in the subject Computer Science or related fields
Desired knowledge and personal skills
- Very good programming skills, particularly in Python and C++
- Excellent knowledge of recent machine learning methods and frameworks
- Very good understanding of medical imaging and image processing as well as robotics, experience with AR/VR is a plus
- Excellent English language and scientific writing skills are required (at least C1), German is a plus
OUR OFFER
- Outside of duties, further scientific training is possible, the results can be used for a dissertation
- Interdisciplinary team and collaborate with academic and clinical partners
- Work on state of the art AI methods with a meaningful purpose
