The GUIDE project is a German-Norwegian collaboration with associated partners from the United Kingdom and France. The project “GUIDE—Green Utilization of Ship and Ice Data for Emission Reduction” aims to reduce emissions by increasing efficiency and promoting smart navigation. The TU Hamburg’s subproject focuses on determining ship resistance in ice and icebreaking capabilities. To this end, a simulation for ice loads is being further developed including the fast assessment of a structures risk as part of this position. At the same time, measurement voyages and experiments with icebreakers are being conducted in the Arctic. Those data must be processed, interpreted, and analyzed. A key activity here is the automated extraction and interpretation of the data, for which custom code must be generated. Participation in Arctic expeditions, as well as their preparation, is also part of the project.
