In this role, you will be a key player in our "Circular Bioeconomy" team, driving innovation in bioprocesses, organic waste, organic waste valorization, biorefineries and bio-based secondary materials. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to conduct a PhD thesis on a topic with tangible environmental impact.

YOUR TASKS

• Lead development, optimization, and characterization of next-generation bio-based materials derived from different under utilized streams
• Use advanced modeling and simulation software to design, integrate, and optimize biorefinery processes for efficient bio-based materials' production
• Planning and conducting experiments and tests on methanation, green hydrogen, and algae cultivation
• Contribute expertise to the development of competitive research proposals for national and international funding bodies
• Supervision and guidance to Bachelor's and Master's students

YOUR PROFILE

Requirements

• Completed scientific university studies (masters degree or equivalent), in particular in the subject of Process Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a closely related field

Desired knowledge and personal skills

• Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, with a strong grasp of experimental design, data analysis, and scientific methodology
• Proven skills in process simulation, optimization, and scale-up using relevant software (e.g., Aspen Plus, MATLAB, Python)
• Experience with fermentation processes and biogas production
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with full professional proficiency in English and German (both written and spoken).
