The Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible:

Full Professorship (W3) in the field of Electrochemical Process Engineering

Kenn-Nr. P2505

We are looking for an internationally recognized candidate who represents the field of Electrochemical Process Engineering with a high degree of commitment in research and teaching at the TUHH. Their research focus should be dedicated to the electrochemical conversion of carbon-containing feedstocks into valuable products as well as the upscaling of electrochemical synthesis processes. In-depth expertise in one or more of the following research areas is desirable:

  • Process integration and system analysisof Power-to-X concepts including upstream (CO2 capture) and downstream (product separation/purification) unit operations
  • Development of scalable electrochemical reactor technologies and electrode architectures for reduction processes e.g. CO2 reduction for valuable products
  • Mass transport optimizationin gas diffusion electrodes and continuously operated reactors
  • Hybrid processes and process cascades integrating electrochemical, chemical, and biocatalytic conversion steps; possible integration in biorefinery processes

Close interdisciplinary cooperation with colleagues at the TUHH as well as Hamburg's major research institutions, industry, and participation in coordinated major research projects are expected, particularly regarding the scale-up from laboratory to pilot and demonstration. Consideration should also be given to techno-economic analysis and lifecycle assessment to support rapid technology transfer. The area of responsibility of the professorship includes participation in teaching in the Bachelor and Master Degree programs, especially the programs in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Green Technologies and Energietechnik with basic and advanced lectures as well as practical courses. We expect high motivation and a great commitment in teaching.
