In order to fill a fixed-term position in part-time (8,5 hours per week) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for one
Student Assistant (SHK) (m/f/x) to provide support to international students / 8,5 h per week
“Lasers and Photonics” is an international Master’s programme offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Ruhr University Bochum. Applications for a place on the programme and admissions take place twice a year and are handled via a dedicated application portal (https://lap-application.rub.de/ ). The Chair of Photonics and Terahertz Technology is seeking a student assistant (m,f,d) to provide support to international students, to start as soon as possible. The weekly working hours are 8,5 hours per week.

Your tasks:
- Checking incoming applications in the application portal for completeness
- Reviewing and verifying additional documents
- Communication with applicants via email:
- Responding to inquiries from prospective students
- Answering open questions regarding their application
- Providing prospective students with information on offers and services beyond the faculty, such as International Welcome activities and events organized by the International Office.
- Providing additional support to the LAP Support Team
Your profile:
- Ability to work independently and reliability
- Fluent written and spoken English (B2/C1)
- German skills are advantageous
- an interest in communicating with international students and in gaining an insight into the admissions process for an international Master’s programme

The opening is for an undergraduate assistant and is governed by § 6 of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (engl. Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act; WissZeitVG). The hourly wage is 15,20 €.The Place of work is Ruhr University Bochum.
