Science Manager (m/f/d)

The Medical Imaging Center - Light Microscopy (MIC-LM) employs a wide range of cutting-edge technologies for advanced imaging and image analysis. It is embedded in the Medical Faculty to support interdisciplinary projects focusing on cell biology, biomedical molecular biology, immunology, host-pathogen interactions, microbiology, neurobiology, and cancer research.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Science Manager to join our international team in a dynamic and stimulating academic research environment. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research activities and to support the strategic development of collaborative scientific initiatives at the national and international level. As Science Manager, you will play a key role in the coordination, administration, and strategic development of our research activities. You will work closely with the MIC-LM head and researchers, supporting scientific projects from conception to implementation, including grant acquisition, consortium building, and project coordination. Remuneration will be based on qualifications and the salary structure of the TV-L (public service tariff scale). The initial contract is limited to two years.

Your tasks:

  • Support the coordination and administration of national and international research projects
  • Assist in the preparation, writing, and submission of grant applications
  • Coordinate communication with project partners, funding agencies, and institutional stakeholders
  • Organize meetings, workshops, conferences, and scientific events
  • Monitor project timelines, milestones, reporting obligations, and deliverables requirements
  • Support financial and budget management of research projects
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other scientific or administrative documents
  • Assist the MIC-LM head in organizational, administrative, and strategic matters
  • Contribute to the visibility and outreach activities of the Center

Your profile:

  • Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in science management, research administration, or academic project coordination is an advantage
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High level of reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Structured, reliable, and proactive working style
  • Experience with grant writing is highly desirable
  • Experience in coordinating interdisciplinary or international projects is a plus
  • Proficiency in common office and project management software tools
  • Enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary and international research environment

Further information:

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.

If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
