The Faculty of Computer Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position of a Professor open rank W3 Tenured or W2 Tenure Track to W3 (m/f/d) in****Quantum Information commencing at the earliest possible date.

We are looking for a scientist with an internationally visible research profile who is willing to play a leading role in current and planned projects, complementing existing strengths for establishing quantum computing as a focus area at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, especially at the Cluster of Excellence "CASA: Securing the Digital Society" and the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security. The Max Planck Institute for Cybersecurity and Privacy offers additional possibilities for collaboration. These outstanding research institutions position Bochum with its extremely vibrant digital ecosystem as one of the leading research locations for IT Security in Europe. There is also ample opportunity to interact with the well-developed start-up community in the area of security and computer science. The responsibilities of the future chair holder include participation in teaching in the study programs of the faculty.
In the case of a W2 professorship with W3 tenure track, the successful candidate will initially be appointed as a temporary civil servant for five years. At the end of this five-year period at the latest, the tenure track will lead to continued employment as a tenured W3 university professor, provided that the necessary aptitude, competence and academic performance have been demonstrated and that the legal requirements pertaining to section 38 Hochschulgesetz NW are met.

Positive evaluation as a junior professor, habilitation or equivalent academic achievement and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and to generally get involved in university processes according to Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s mission statement. The candidate has to meet the appointment requirements according to section 36 ff. Hochschulgesetz NW.
