Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry :
Organische Chemie I
Research group Prof. Dr. Lukas Gooßen

In order to fill a fixed-term position in part-time (67 %) at the earliest possible date, we are looking for one

PhD Application (m/f/x), 3 years, 67% position, TV-L E13

Our research focuses on developing simple catalytic “dream reactions” as alternatives to multi-step transformations. We are particularly interested in devising new strategies for minimizing waste within a synthetic sequence. Our reaction portfolio encompasses homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, and photochemistry. We develop catalytic methods, design novel catalysts, and construct custom-built reactors as well as hardware and software tools for instrumental analysis. Our experimental work is supported by mechanistic studies and quantum mechanical calculations and complemented by organic syntheses that allow us to test the practical applicability of the new methods in the production of complex molecules, such as pharmaceuticals.

As a research assistant (m/f/x), you will independently and reliably prepare and carry out experiments, analyse the results and …

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of Germany’s leading research universities, addressing the whole range of academic disciplines. A highly dynamic setting enables researchers and students to work across the traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. To create knowledge networks within and beyond the university is Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s declared aim.

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands for diversity and equal opportunities. For this reason, we favour a working environment composed of heterogeneous teams, and seek to promote the careers of individuals who are underrepresented in our respective professional areas. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum expressly requests job applications from women. In areas in which they are underrepresented they will be given preference in the case of equivalent qualifications with male candidates. Applications from individuals with disabilities are most welcome.
