Ludwigsburg University of Education is one of six Universities of Education in Baden- Württemberg, with around 6,000 students and over 470 staff members. The advertised W3 professorship in Educational Science, specialising in school education, is one of three professorships in the Department of School Pedagogy.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering courses in the educational science components of teacher education programmes, with a focus on the pedagogy and didactics of lower secondary education
- Participating in academic examinations and supervising school placements
- Contributing to the University’s self-governance
- Conducting research and contributing to the further development of the discipline at the interface between educational research and professional practice
- Securing competitive external research funding and publishing regularly in recognized academic journals
Requirements:
- A completed teacher education degree, preferably qualifying for teaching at lower secondary level
- Outstanding academic qualifications demonstrated by a relevant doctoral degree, habilitation or equivalent academic achievements.
- Proven teaching competence demonstrated through experience in higher education
- A research profile in school pedagogy with a particular focus lower secondary education, on non-grammar school types (e.g. disadvantaged pupils or dealing with heterogeneity), is desirable.
- An established publication record in school pedagogy, including theoretical, quantitative-empirical and practice-oriented reseach
- The successful candidate is expected to participate in the Institute’s compulsory teaching in key areas of school pedagogy and to contribute to the design and further development of degree programmes
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues within the Department of School Pedagogy and the Institute of Educational Science, as well as with the Professional School of Education Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart (PSE).
