About us:

The Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science (GSI) is looking for student assistants for the upcoming semester to provide IT support to the staff of our department.

With 11 chairs, more than 70 staff members and over 2,000 students, the GSI is one of the largest political science institutes in Germany. The GSI IT-Support team provides assistance primarily to academic and administrative staff with matters concerning their office computers, their LMU Accounts, or other IT services at LMU. As a local service group, we work in collaboration with other IT departments at LMU and the Leibniz-Rechenzentrum (LRZ).

We are looking for you:

Student Assistant (m/f/x) in IT-Support

in Munich

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Supporting our staff when they have questions or problems regarding operating systems (Windows or macOS), Office applications or web services.
• Installation and administration of workstations, servers (Linux), network infrastructure and applications (in cooperation with Leibniz Rechenzentrum LRZ).
• Technical and content-related support for the GSI website.

Your qualifications:

• Proficiency in common operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with the installation, administration and connectivity of Windows workstations.
• Good organisational and communication skills, a strong team spirit, and enthusiasm for supporting our staff with IT-related matters.
• You are studying at a university or college in Munich – ideally computer science or a related subject. First semester students are encouraged to apply as well.

The hourly wage for this position is based on the standard rates for student assistants, which are currently 15.20 € (without a university degree) or 16.70 € (with a bachelor’s degree). The number of working hours per week is negotiable (between 6 to 12 hours).
