The Institute for Financial Innovation and Technology (FinTech) at LMU Munich School of Management conducts academically rigorous, relevant and exciting research and teaching in the domain of financial innovation and technology (FinTech). We cover topics like market microstructure, high frequency trading, cryptocurrencies & blockchain, tokenomics, financial data science and the application of machine learning in capital markets. We present our research at international conferences and publish in leading journals. We will also collaborate directly with the financial industry and the local FinTech scene. Our workplace is centrally located in Munich and is very easy to reach by public transport. As part of our team, you will conduct empirical research in FinTech in close collaboration with Professor Riordan, Dr. Luca Galati, and Dr. Ralf Laschinger. You will be the sixth Research Assistant at this new institute and will gain experience in developing new courses, building a well-funded research infrastructure, and building an industry network. Teaching covers undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars, and supporting BSc and MSc students in their thesis work.
You hold an excellent academic record and a Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics, Business Math, Computer Science, or a related field. In your studies, you will have gained some experience in working with empirical methods, especially large and complex datasets. You are intellectually curious, possess strong analytical capabilities, and are a competent programmer in Python, and/or R. You complement our team with your strong organizational skills, are proactive and persistent, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and possess excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
