In addition, we work on mathematically grounded AI methods for inverse problems and partial differential equations, as well as AI-based approaches to learning physical laws. Applications arise, among others, in medicine, robotics, and telecommunications.

The chair is also involved in several larger initiatives at LMU and in the Munich AI ecosystem, including the AI-HUB@LMU, the Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI, the Munich Center for Machine Learning, and the project “Next Generation AI Computing (gAIn)”, partly in leading roles.
