About us:

The Vigo Heissmeyer Lab at the Institute for Immunology, located within the Biomedical Center (BMC) at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), is recruiting a PhD student to join a DFG-funded research project at the interface of tumor immunity and autoimmunity. This opportunity is part of the Collaborative Research Center TRR338 "Letsimmune" (Lymphocyte Engineering for Therapeutic Synthetic Immunity) and aims to uncover mechanisms underlying the activation and differentiation of T cells as well as their behavior during chronic infections and within tumors.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

As a PhD student, you will work in a dynamic, international, and interdisciplinary team, gaining hands-on experience in advanced immunology research. The lab offers access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and a collaborative environment, making it an ideal setting for developing expertise in molecular biology, signal transduction and immunology. The research investigates state-of-the-art genetic mouse models or in vitro genetic manipulation of T cells to elicit enhanced anti-tumor responses. The project focuses on post-transcriptional gene regulation, signal transduction, phenotyping of T cells and analyzing their function in tumor growth control.

Your qualifications:

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, or a related field, and possess experience with cellular biology, molecular biology and immunology techniques. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential. The position is fully integrated into the German Research Foundation TRR338, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact research in tumor immunology.
