Your Profile
With this professorship, Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences aims to further develop the key teaching areas of engineering mechanics and the simulation of multi-body systems with a view to the future.
We are seeking a candidate who holds a university degree in mechanical engineering or a specialisation in mechanical engineering, and who possesses a particular aptitude for academic work, as demonstrated by a qualified doctoral degree in one of the areas listed below. You must have at least five years of professional experience in the development and application of the subject areas covered by the professorship, of which at least three years must have been gained outside the academic sector.
We expect in-depth knowledge as well as relevant professional and academic experience in the following areas:
• Engineering mechanics in mechanical engineering
• Modelling and simulation of multi-body systems
Extensive knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas would be desirable:
• System simulation in the development of complex mechatronic systems
• Development and validation of physical models
• Co-simulation or simulation of coupled technical systems
• Inverse kinematic analysis
Your Responsibilities
The fields of expertise must be represented in both teaching and applied research. We regard excellent teaching skills and a high level of commitment to teaching as essential prerequisites, as is a willingness to participate in exchanges with our international partner universities and to offer courses in both German and English. Furthermore, we expect active involvement in teaching basic subjects, advanced courses and specialised lectures on current research topics, and, where appropriate, in lectures in related subject areas as well as on part-time degree programmes.
We expect the successful candidate to integrate well into the existing team, both professionally and personally, to be actively involved in the academic self-governance of our university, and to take pleasure in passing on knowledge drawn from their own professional experience to students.
Teaching and Research Environment

The position is to be filled as of September 1, 2027, at the Kaiserslautern campus of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Applied Engineering. Full-time positions may generally be split, provided that this does not conflict with institutional needs.
Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences is a research-intensive university of applied sciences in the fields of computer science, engineering, business, design, and health.
