CHAIR W2: PROFESSORSHIP IN THE SUBJECT AREA AUDIO DESIGN/AUDIO SYSTEMS

YOUR ROLE

The main role of the professorship is teaching in the field of audio design/audio systems. In the Media Technology BSc programme, this includes the compulsory subject of Sound Engineering and the elective subjects of Audio Engineering and Production, Music Production, Sound Design for Visual Media, Sound Technology. In the Sound Vision MA programme, it includes mostly freely defined compulsory elective subjects and projects in the field of audio design.

In the Communication Design MA programme (in the Faculty of Design), it includes courses such as Sound Design for Video and Animation. Your own artistic or scholarly research is desired; management of the recording studio and participation in academic administration is expected.

YOUR PROFILE

You must be qualified to carry out scholarly research, as evidenced by a doctorate or peer-reviewed academic papers.

You will have gained professional experience preferably in areas of audio production such as in recording, film sound, radio drama, radio, sound for visual media or games.

Your special aptitude for artistic work and your additional artistic achievements will be evidenced by a list of sound-engineering productions or artistic works.

Your specialist skills start from room acoustics, analytic hearing and acoustic references, from which the technical and technological tools required for each production can be derived. These range from recording techniques for Foley, field, studio and live recordings, production and post-production tools to modern sound formats in 3D. Specialist knowledge of studio technology including network technology and streaming is desirable.

Ideally, you will have experience in research and/or development.

Preferably, you will have prior teaching experience and evidence of didactic skills.

You speak German (comparable to Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and English, you enjoy working with students and the wider team, and you communicate well and professionally.

For appointment as a professor, as well as the general staff requirements, the appointment requirements in accordance with Section 15 Para. 1-6 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) also apply. These can be read on our .

This includes the willingness to participate in the self-administration committees of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences as well as a choice of residence in proximity to the university.

The denomination of the vacant post is under the caveat of assessment at appropriate intervals in accordance with Section 12 Para 7 HmbHG.

As well as the basic salary of grade W2 and basic performance benefits, a provision of appointment performance benefits is also possible which can be negotiated with the university president. In addition, there is also the possibility of granting a bonus from third-party funds.

Candidates who have not yet reached the age of 52 at the time of appointment may be appointed as tenured officials, otherwise the employment relationship is that of a standard employee.
