Professor (W2) for Media Psychology with a focus on innovative formats in corporate communication

at the faculty of Business and Economics

Your duties include

  • Practice-oriented teaching, incorporating digital teaching and learning formats in both German and English within the fields of media psychology and related areas for the Bachelor’s degree program in Applied Business and Media Psychology
  • Imparting theoretical and applied fundamentals of media psychology, particularly regarding communication strategies and innovative formats and media channels
  • Conceptualization, supervision, and evaluation of applied communication projects, i.e. in cooperation with companies, organizations, or agencies, such as within the framework of project-, transfer-, and research-oriented teaching formats in which students address real-world communication challenges
  • Research and development activities and proactive acquisition of third-party funding
  • Contribution to the establishment, operation, and strategic development of the areas of expertise in the Faculty of Business and Economics, considering current developments, particularly in the context of digitalization and the changing media landscape
  • High-quality supervision of project work, seminar papers, Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as doctorates
  • Involvement in setting up new national and international partnerships and maintaining existing ones
  • Active participation in academic self-governance and interdisciplinary committees at the university

You offer

  • A university degree (university-level “Diplom” or a combination of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) is preferred, ideally in communication studies, media studies, business/economics, social sciences, journalism, psychology, or a comparable field
  • Above-average academic qualifications, typically evidenced by a doctorate
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in internal and/or external organizational communication, e.g. in companies, public institutions, associations, or agencies
  • Practical experience in strategic organizational and stakeholder communication, public relations, employee relations, and marketing, as well as in the use of data-driven, AI-supported, and/or digital methods in corporate and organizational communication, ideally demonstrated by work samples submitted with the application
  • Experience in the conception, implementation, and evaluation of communication strategies and initiatives in the fields of UX and social media, as well as in reception and impact research
  • Ability to work in a team and enthusiasm for passing on your practical experience such as in qualitative and/or quantitative methods to our students as future academics

Recruitment pursuant to Article 57 (3) of the BayHIG

  • Completed university degree in a field relevant to the professorship
  • Excellent academic achievements in research and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent academic qualification
  • Pedagogical aptitude
  • Special achievements in the application or development of academic knowledge and methods in a minimum of five years of work experience, which must have been acquired after completion of the university degree and of which at least three years must have been acquired outside the university sector. If, over a period of at least five years, a considerable portion of your work involved a cooperation between a university and a non-academic employer, this time may be considered to meet the requirements for non-academic work experience in special cases (pursuant to Article 57 (3) Sentence 1 No. 3 of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG)).
