The investigates the links between environment, lifestyle and genetics in the development of diseases. The focus is on metabolism, respiratory and allergic diseases, but also cardiovascular diseases and mental health. Our aims are to better understand the molecular mechanisms of disease development in the population, to break new ground in prevention at the individual level and to enable evidence-based preventive health care through improved environmental conditions.

Our research is based, among other things, on the unique population-based KORA resources (cohort, heart attack registry, aerosol monitoring station) and the GINI and LISA birth cohorts. EPI is also one of the central partners in planning and execution of the NAKO Health Study and is building the central NAKO biosample repository.

Your tasks

  • Coordinate and support research projects in administrative matters – from resource planning and timelines to preparing grant applications and reports (EU, BMBF, DFG and others) – and track ongoing grant activities
  • Support research teams with HR-related processes, contract coordination and general administrative tasks
  • Prepare administrative presentations, reports, and internal briefings for the institute leadership
  • Act as a contact person for internal and external partners, ensuring smooth communication between scientists, administration, and external collaborators
  • Contribute to internal and external communication activities, including science communication and social media
  • Take the lead in planning and organizing science-related events (e.g. conferences, delegation visits) and coordinate logistics and content-related aspects together with internal teams and scientific partners

Your profile

  • University degree in life-sciences (PhD welcome but not required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams
  • Reliable, detail-oriented working style — able to balance structured planning with solution-oriented flexibility
  • Confident use of M365 applications (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and openness to using AI tools for efficiency
  • Candidates must have very good command of written and spoken German and English

Desirable qualifications:

  • Initial experience in project or science management in a publicly funded institution or in the private sector
  • Experience in coordinating and/or conducting clinical or epidemiological studies

If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 2 years but may be extended under certain circumstances.
