The Cluster of Excellence “Imaginamics" . Practices and Dynamics of Social Imagining” seeks to fill the position of a

Team Assistant at the Public Hub

commencing on 1 August 2026. We offer a part-time position (50%, 20 hours per week), offered as a fixed-term position until 31 December 2032.

The Cluster of Excellence “Imaginamics” is an interdisciplinary research project of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena that conducts research on the practices and dynamics of social imagining. Funded by the German Excellence Strategy, it brings together scholars from multiple departments. The Cluster’s work distinguishes itself from extant research on social imaginaries by focusing on processes, practices, and dynamics of social imagining. For more information, see .

Your responsibilities:

  • You will handle the Public Hub’s correspondence with the cluster’s other stakeholders and partners with confidence and professionalism.
  • You will plan and organise Public Hub events (e.g. evening lectures, conferences, workshops, exhibitions and working meetings), including the processing of business travel expenses and the accommodation of the cluster’s guests.
  • You will provide administrative support to the management team of the Cluster of Excellence.
  • You will manage the Cluster’s websites and social media accounts, both editorially and technically, and prepare press releases and results reports.
  • You will document Public Hub events in words and images.
  • You will draft minutes of working meetings relating to the Public Hub and, on an ad hoc basis, also in other units of the Cluster.

Your profile:

  • You have successfully completed a relevant qualification or have proven professional experience gained through several years of work in comparable roles, ideally in the academic sector.
  • You have already gained experience in the administrative planning, organisation and delivery of academic events.
  • You enjoy documenting events using recording media (audio, video) and learning the necessary operating procedures.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of standard office software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro) and have ideally already worked with software for web, graphic or video editing.
  • You speak and write fluently in both German and English.
  • You keep a clear overview even in challenging situations involving many people and have a talent for structuring complex processes.
  • You are a team player, friendly, open-minded, flexible, well-organised, resilient and enjoy communicating.

We offer:

  • Remuneration based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Federal States (TV-L) up to salary scale E8 — depending on the candidate’s personal qualifications—, including a special annual payment in accordance with the collective agreement.

The advertised position is initially limited to the funding period of the Cluster of Excellence. Should the Cluster receive further funding after the first funding phase has ended, the employment contract may be extended.

This is a part-time position with 50% of the working hours of a full-time employee (20 hours per week).
