Researcher in Inorganic Chemistry

commencing on 01 October 2026

We offer part-time position (50%, 20 hours per week), offered as a fixed-term position until (Date: 30 September 2029).

The research group is newly established at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry and specialised on inorganic molecular chemistry. The projects associated with the position are aimed at the synthesis of low-valent main group compounds as well as their properties and reactivity. This will allow insights into various experimental and analytical methods and requires working under inert conditions.

Your responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental research in the field of synthestic molecular chemistry under inert gas atmospheres
  • Assist with teaching at the institute as well as supervising student theses
  • Evaluation of all analytical results
  • Presentation of results in scientific context

Your profile:

  • Master's degree (or comparable) in Chemistry in the field of Inorganic Chemstry with focus on synthesis outstanding grade, ideally
  • broad experience of synthesis under inert conditions
  • advanced knowledge of analytical methods, in particular NMR and vibrational spectroscopy as well as scXRD
  • very good communication ability in English and German are desired
  • you can work engaged, flexibly and in a team-oriented manner
  • scientific curiosity, frustration tolerance and attention to details are advantageous

This is a part-time position with 50% of the working hours of a full-time employee (20 hours per week).
