The Institute of Mathematics seeks to fill the position of a
Doctoral Researcher in Mathematics – Geometry
commencing on 1 October 2026
We offer a part-time position (75% / 30 hours per week), offered as a fixed-term until 30 September 2029.
The position offers the opportunity to pursue doctoral research on current problems in convex and integral geometry under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wannerer.
Your responsibilities:
- Independent research in convex and integral geometry with the goal of completing a doctoral degree
- Teaching at the Institute in a scope of three semester hours per week
- Active participation in the research group, including assistance with the organisation of the research seminar as well as scientific conferences and workshops
Your profile:
- An excellent university degree in mathematics
- Interest in geometric problems related to convexity; applicants are ideally expected to have written a thesis in a relevant area (for example differential geometry, geometric analysis, or discrete geometry)
- The ability to teach in German or English is required, as is the willingness to acquire whichever language skills are currently lacking
