PhD Position - Lattice field theory
The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) operates JUPITER, Europe's first Exascale supercomputer and runs JUNIQ, the first European user infrastructure of quantum computing. Within the division HPC for Quantum Systems, the Simulation and Data Laboratory (SDL) Numerical Quantum Field Theory aims to understand the properties of strongly interacting/correlated matter such as the spectrum of QCD, and develops algorithms and implementations for various high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
The Institute for Advanced Simulation - Theory of Strong Interactions (IAS-4) deals with strong interactions in the non-perturbative arena, in particular with the structure and dynamics of hadrons and atomic nuclei. Of particular interest is the spectrum of quantum chromodynamics. Fundamental tools are Monte Carlo simulations, which are also successfully applied to strongly correlated electronic systems.
Within the Cluster of Excellence "" (CmF), JSC and IAS-4 offer a PhD opportunity with a focus on exotic hadrons.
