Full-time, permanent
You will be responsible for teaching and researching the subject of design at MSA – teaching the practical design of architectural spaces, structures and forms at bachelor’s and master’s level.
You will share your expertise on social and aesthetic issues, as well as spatial strategies and methods.
At the same time, you will foster both an experimental/artistic and a strategic/scientific understanding of design practices, with the aim of helping students develop their own perspectives.
You will provide dedicated and expert support for the university’s internationalisation strategy and make a significant contribution to this, for example through courses taught in English. In general advanced knowledge of German is essential for this position.
You will be expected to actively contribute to the further development and design of curricula, and to participate in university self-government.
Your expertise is based on a degree in architecture.
A relevant doctorate is desirable. The requirements for recruitment under Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG NRW) apply.
In addition, you have proven practical and project experience, and a strong national and international reputation.
In addition to your role as an architect, in which you independently plan and implement design projects characterised by a high degree of spatial, typological, and material complexity, as well as conceptual depth, you have an outstanding, independent body of work that is recognised within the professional community.
Your work is characterised by a particular interest in the conceptual and procedural challenges and demands involved in designing forward-looking, architecturally sophisticated spaces for society.
Thanks to your ability to present complex interrelationships in an understandable way, you will inspire your students to become excited about spatial and conceptual issues, empowering them to apply these skills independently.
A permanent W2 professorship will enable you to make a valuable contribution to teaching, research and university management.
Our extensive portfolio of professional teaching development will enable you to develop your skills on an ongoing basis.
Our family-friendly conditions will support you and enable you to achieve a good work-life balance.
You can look forward to an exciting challenge as part of our team, with dedicated colleagues to support you from the very beginning.
