WHAT TO EXPECT

You will work on a DFG (German Research Foundation) research project focusing on cation diffusion in cerium oxide.

Your responsibilities will include performing computer-aided DFT calculations, implementing and using Monte Carlo simulations, and determining defect energies and diffusion coefficients.

You will assist with synthesising and characterising solid-state samples.

You will also present and publish your research findings in a scientific context.

Finally, you will assist with teaching and with supervising project work and final theses.

YOUR BACKGROUND

You have successfully completed a master’s degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related subject.

Ideally, you will also have a basic understanding of solid-state chemistry and defect chemistry, as well as atomistic simulation methods.

You are also highly motivated to undertake scientific work and possess excellent teamwork skills.

You are willing to collaborate closely with experimental research groups and external partners.

We also rely on you having good communication skills in German and English (both written and spoken).

WE OFFER YOU

A part-time position (67%, 26 hours and 41 minutes per week) with remuneration based on pay grade 13 TV-L (Public Sector Collective Agreement for the Federal States) for a fixed term of three years.

You will have the explicit opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree, for example in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University.
