The Chair of Building Materials and Construction Chemistry performs research on innovative, sustainable and high-performance building materials for infrastructure applications. Among other things, the durability of the materials and the underlying damage mechanisms are examined using modern chemical and mineralogical analysis methods and performance testing. In the highly interdisciplinary DFG project, the focus is on the resistance of cementitious materials to biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion (microbially induced corrosion).
