We are a young and dynamic technical university in the heart of Lusatia, developing practical, science-based solutions to address major future challenges and global transformation processes

The Chair of Building Materials and Construc­tion Chemistry performs research on inno­vative, sustainable and high-performance building materials for infra­structure applications. Among other things, the durability of the materials and the underlying damage mechanisms are examined using modern chemical and mine­ra­lo­gical analysis methods and performance testing. In the highly interdisciplinary DFG project, the focus is on the resistance of ce­men­titious materials to biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion (microbially induced corrosion).

In the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning, the following position is available at the Chair of Building Materials and Construction Chemistry, subject to project approval:

Your area of responsibility includes in particular:

Research:

  • Scientific work within the framework of the DFG project "Microbially induced corrosion of cementitious materials: influence of cement com­position, ambient humidity, and sulfur source (ZeUS)"
  • Lecturing and publishing activities on the subject of research
  • Contributions to reports and presentations

Admission to the doctoral programme in the subject area is expressly desired.

Your requirements profile:

  • completed University degree (Master's degree/university diploma/equivalent) in a field relevant to the position (Applied Geosciences, Mineralogy, Chemistry, Building Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or comparable)

The following knowledge/expertise is required:

  • Good knowledge of the German language, both written and spoken
  • Good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Practical activities in chemical, mineralogical, or building materials laboratories

The following knowledge/expertise is advantageous:

  • Experience with software for the evaluation of powder diffracto­grams (e. g., Match!, DIFFRAC.EVA or HighScore)

The following knowledge is also an advantage:

  • Ability to work scientifically, self-reliance, flexibility, good commu­ni­cation skills
