Job Advertisement W 40/2023The University of Rostock offers a diverse, varied and demanding job in a tradition-conscious, yet innovative, modern and family-friendly university in a lively city by the sea.At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, Photonic Nanomaterials group, subject to budgetary provisions, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for a period of three years:Research Assistant (m/f/d) EG 13 TV-L, part-time employment, 20 hours/week, limited, qualification positionWe are looking for an outstanding and committed person for a research project on the topic of colloidal nanoparticles. The working group for photonic nanomaterials combines preparative techniques with spectroscopic and microscopic methods for the synthesis and investigation of novel nanostructures. We offer a versatile, varied and interdisciplinary work environment on the border between chemistry and physics. Of particular interest are semiconductors and semiconductor hybrid materials, the fabrication of complex nanomaterials, and the investigation of dynamic processes and photocatalytic properties.Tasks and Responsibilities

research in the field of colloidal nanocrystals with the aim of scientific qualification (doctorate)

Synthesis and characterisation of colloidal nanocrystals and heterostructures with the help of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques

scientific teaching in form of practice groups and lab courses in the field of physical chemistry in the amount of 2 semester periods per week, which are focused on research-based transfer of specialist knowledge and skills to students is central and they are instructed to work scientifically on their own due to the scientific nature of teaching

organize and carry out scientific events

publish research results

Requirements

completed university degree (state exam, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering or nanoscience with at least good results

good knowledge of physical chemistry (thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum mechanics)

confident and safe handling of protective gas synthesis techniques in the wet chemical laboratory

good knowledge of the German language and confident knowledge of the English language in word and writing

willingness to work seriously and with commitment on a project of one's own scientific qualification

communication skills for presenting research results

ability to work in a team for interdisciplinary work groups.
