Within the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, the successful candidate will be expected to represent the field of “Concrete Construction“ distinctly and internationally, and to innovatively enhance the university’s scientific profile in this area of research.
Fundamental and applied research should mainly address the socially relevant issues, starting with resource-efficient and life-cycle-compatible construction, through the preservation of existing infrastructure, to digital construction methods.

The professorship is associated with the management of the Department of Concrete Construction at the Institute of Building Materials, Concrete Construction and Fire Safety (iBMB). In teaching the entire field of concrete construction must be represented in the undergraduate (German language) and graduate Courses in the Bachelor’s / Master’s programs “Civil Engineering” and “Industrial Engineering“ in German and English.
The willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation with other fields of the faculty, especially from the field of structural engineering and numerical modelling is mandatory. Furthermore, active involvement in and contribution to the university’s core research area “Future City”, mainly in the field of digital building fabrication, is desired. It is intended that the professorship will participate in the management of the Braunschweig Materials Testing Institute as a member of the scientific board.
