It is a PhD position (0.65 13 TV-L, up to 36 months) for the investigation of mycotoxins in soil-plant systems as part of the international SolFOOD project. Your area of responsibility: The position is available for up to three years (36 months) and is located in the Environmental and Soil Chemistry Group, Campus Landau. The position is part of the third-party funded project "Ecological, Technological and Capacity Building Strategies for a Sustainable Optimization of Local Maize-based Food Systems and Climate-Change Resilient Food Production at the Level of Smallholder Farmers in Kenya", sub-project "Assessment of soil quality and mycotoxin risks associated with the use of innovative and traditional soil managements in the context of climate change". The focus is on the development and application of suitable methods for the analysis of mycotoxins in soil-plant systems, the investigation of biogeochemical processes in soils in the context of climate change and the consequences for mycotoxin contamination as well as the evaluation of stress scenarios on the concentrations of mycotoxins in soil and plants. Investigations will be carried out in the laboratory (Landau campus) and in the field (Nairobi, Kenya). Your requirements profile: Successfully completed Master or Diploma degree at a university or comparable higher education institution in a degree programme with a focus on chemistry, environmental chemistry, soil or environmental sciences. knowledge of soil biogeochemistry and instrumental analysis as well as experiences in analytical instrumentation (e.g. HPLC-UV, LC-HRMS, LC-MS/MS) and methods for soil quality analysis and statistics are beneficial.
