An extension of the position is possible.The positions are part of the "Digitalization and the Public Sphere" group, led by Professor Edda Humprecht. The group focuses on understanding how political communication processes develop and differ internationally based on the information environment. We are looking for candidates interested in current developments in political communication, such as new technology, user behavior and participation, digital journalism and news, and changing media systems. Successful candidates will be required to conduct independent research, work with the group members, and contribute to teaching.Your responsibilities:

Active participation in the group’s research activities

Further academic qualification

Planning, execution, and supervision of high-quality research projects

Publications in leading communication journals and presentations at international conferences

Teaching courses relevant to your research interests and relevant to our BA and MA study programs

Academic service

Your profile:

Very good doctoral degree in Communication Studies or a neighbouring discipline

Excellent Master’s degree in Communication Studies or a neighbouring discipline

Proven research and teaching competence in the field of political communication

Strong interest in comparative international communication research.

Advanced skills in quantitative methods of empirical social science

Advanced skills in text as data methods and R. Additional skills in Python an asset.

Analytical skills and capacity for independent, internationally visible research

Enthusiasm for working in teams

Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in German is desirable but not required
