Since it was founded in 1991, Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (FHP) has become an important participant in the knowledge landscape of the region. Our strengths are clear structures, small seminar groups, innovative digital courses, a practical orientation, interdisciplinarity and close relationships with regional, national and international partners.The STADT | BAU | KULTUR Faculty is seeking to fill the following post on the BA / MA programmes in Conservation & Restoration for the 2024 summer semester:Professor (W2) of Specialist Planning in Conservation and Restoration Kennziffer B03.23on a 50% FTE basis.The professorship in Specialist Planning in Conservation and Restoration is a linking and overarching position within the wood, stone and mural conservation specialisations of the Conservation and Restoration degree programme and provides support above all in the area of the degree programme’s focus, “Restoration in the Conservation of Historical Monuments”. The professorship is primarily located within the area of Specialist Planning in the Master’s study programme; however, it is also intended that the post holder will provide initial content- related impulses in the Bachelor’s programme too. The supervision of final theses is also part of the scope of duties.Your tasksSpecialist planning in conservation and restoration deals with the following points, among others: legal principles on the basis of the HOAI (Fee Structure for Architectural and Engineering Services), production of preparatory reports and sample areas for conservation and restoration, drawing up of priced specifications and other tender documents, awarding of contracts, development of funding opportunities and the submission of funding applications, awarding of contracts, specialist construction management, acceptance and auditing of accounts, follow-up care via monitoring and more. The role’s teaching responsibilities will primarily be in the Master’s degree programme including both theoretical input and practical projects, preferably based on the candidate’s professional practice and mainly in the three material specialisations of the degree programme. Good cooperation and coordination with the respective subject professors are essential in this regard.Your profileEssential candidate characteristics:

a committed and enthusiastic personality,

a university degree preferably in conservation and restoration in a field related to the preservation of historical monuments,

teaching proficiency,

a particular aptitude for scientific work, demonstrated by a qualified doctorate or achievements equivalent to a doctorate, such as corresponding publications, own final reports on specialist planning, own project documentation, proof of expert work as an appraiser,

special achievements in the application and development of conservation and restoration knowledge and methods in at least three years of professional practice of which at least two years must have been spent outside the university sector, in-depth theoretical knowledge, research and application experience in the field of restoration planning with the emphasis on the conservation of historical monuments, evidenced by specialist publications and participation in the relevant specialist discourse,

specialist pedagogical/didactic skills and teaching experience in conveying theoretical and practical content.

We are looking for:

integration of your own restoration planning experience and practice in to your teaching,

active participation in the specialist discourse of the Conservation and Restoration degree programme and the Stadt | Bau | Kultur Faculty, as well as a presence on site,

a contribution to the internationalisation of teaching through the development of international relations,

experience in the field of third-party funded projects (scientific and/or commercial) in the national and international context,

close cooperation with other universities and non-university research institutions, especially in the Berlin-Brandenburg region,

technology and knowledge transfer with partners in the region as well as on a national and international level.

The professorship entails a teaching obligation of nine hours per week per semester primarily in the Master’s, but also in the Bachelor’s degree programmes, as well as undertaking research, development and academic self-governance.We offer
